Plico privacy policy

Your documents belong with you. This page explains what Plico keeps on your device, what can leave it, and the choices you control.

Last updated 5 November 2026 · Plico 0.4.1 for Mac and Windows

Plico is made by Manuel Re at Company31, Sydney, Australia.

Your documents

Opening, editing, OCR and conversion run on your device. Plico does not automatically upload documents or collect analytics, advertising identifiers or usage telemetry. No Plico account is required. Original documents and exported copies remain in locations you choose.

Local storage and recovery

When workspace recovery is on, Plico stores copies of open documents, unsaved edits, form drafts, names and current pages in its local application-data folder. Recovery uses AES-256-GCM encryption with a key protected by your operating system. If protected storage is unavailable, Plico does not save unencrypted recovery copies. Earlier Folio recovery files are encrypted when successfully opened by Plico.

Recovery remains until you close documents, discard changes, or use Privacy and local data to turn recovery off and delete its copies. You can turn recovery on again. Deleting copies is ordinary file deletion, not guaranteed secure erasure of disk space or backups. Recovery does not replace saving a permanent document.

The app also stores your colour theme, chosen AI provider and configured model/endpoint settings locally. API keys are encrypted with operating-system protected storage. Use Forget all AI settings and keys to remove those saved settings and credentials from Plico. This does not revoke a key at its provider.

Optional AI services

AI is optional. Apple Intelligence and supported local Ollama models process selected text on the device. A custom local server may forward requests; check its configuration. Hosted providers receive the selected text and instruction displayed in the AI workspace only when you choose Send to provider. Requests also include the model choice and authentication needed by that provider. The app does not send the full document file automatically.

Load models contacts your selected provider to retrieve model names, using its key if configured, without sending document text. Hosted providers and server operators may retain, log or use requests according to their own terms and privacy policies. Review those before sending confidential information. Cancelling a request cannot recall information already sent. Company31 does not operate an intermediary AI service for these requests.

Files in synced folders and backups

If you save files in iCloud Drive, OneDrive, Dropbox or another synced folder, that service may upload them under your settings. Operating-system backups may also include local app data. Those services are separate from Plico; turning recovery off does not delete their historical backups.

Other services

Microsoft Store, Windows and macOS may process installation, purchase, diagnostic or account information under their own policies and settings. Plico does not control those services. Provider accounts and any AI charges are your responsibility. The app has no advertising SDK.

Your choices and contact

You can use document tools without AI, remove saved keys, disable recovery and manage your saved files yourself. Company31 does not receive your document contents through Plico's local tools. If you contact support, the information you choose to send is used to respond to your request. Do not send private documents unless needed and agreed.

For privacy questions, access or deletion requests relating to information you have sent to Company31, contact mre@c31.ai.
